Rabbi Moshe Shmuel Blaustein, who recently passed away, was a beloved figure in the Toronto Jewish community, remembered for his profound impact as an educator and community leader. He served for many years as a third-grade rebbe at Eitz Chaim Schools, where he was deeply cherished by students and parents alike. Rabbi Blaustein's role extended beyond the classroom, touching lives as the longtime director of Camp Agudah Toronto. He was known for bringing joy, warmth, and an uplifting spirit to campers, creating lasting memories for many young attendees who fondly recall his energy and kindness.
Rabbi Blaustein was also a gifted storyteller, contributing his voice to characters in children’s storytelling projects, including the well-known “Marvelous Middos Machine,” where he voiced Shloompy Shapiro. His storytelling, whether through recordings or live interactions, offered both entertainment and moral lessons to young listeners, instilling values and joy.
He leaves behind a legacy through his family and the many people he influenced with his teachings, humor, and kindness. His presence in Toronto’s Jewish life will be missed profoundly, and his memory will live on through his teachings, stories, and the countless lives he touched.
